Last Wednesday, around 500 travel agents and professionals in corporate event and conference planning from across Europe arrived at Grand Luxor Hotel to start one of the most important conferences in the world: The M&I Forum. From 24 to 27 April, all these professionals from the MICE sector met in Benidorm to explore the possibilities that the city offers, as well as its hotels such as Grand Luxor Hotel, for hosting major international events
Theme park for events
Among the activities that all the agents could enjoy on Wednesday 24 April was the theme park, Terra Mítica. Around 500 events professionals from across Europe enjoyed a fun day at the facilities of the leisure complex with exclusive attractions, shows and a gala dinner in the Iberia Village. This part of Terra Mítica has a unique aesthetic that is similar to a traditional Mediterranean village.
Iberia Village has about a dozen spaces that have been set up as themed food establishments. Last Wednesday, each of them offered an exquisite catering service to the nearly 500 agents. In addition to the leisure spaces, those attending the forum were able to discover, first hand, the different venues that Gran Luxor Hotel uses for its conferences, presentations and business meetings.
Workshops in the conference centre
On 25, 26 and 27 April, during the morning, a big workshop took place in La Pirámide, The Conference Centre of Grand Luxor Hotel and the largest on the Costa Blanca. The aim of this event was to reach agreements between all the participants. So much so that between Grand Luxor, Meliá Villaitana and Asia Gardens (these last two hotels also hosted the business meetings) were able to close about 7000 meetings with agents attending the M&I Forum.
The MICE sector is a consolidated business line for Grand Luxor Hotel, but it is growing exponentially. Last year, the hotel had 35 large events with 60% of the companies being international such as Decathlon, Michelin and Olympus. By 2019, forecasts point to an increase in international clients reaching 70% and the objective is focused not only on increasing the number of events held but also their volume and projection.
